We are a large homelessness charity, seeking to develop a client digital learning offering for our vulnerable residents to support their recovery from homelessness. This is a challenging initiative to design a product that meets a very wide range of user needs, including around IT confidence and access, differing literacy levels and English-speaking levels, and inspiring learner motivation and engagement. The product also needs to be accessible to a range of abilities, including mental health challenges, learning difficulties, neurodiverse learners, and physical disabilities. Luke was contracted as the lead learning designer and researcher for us on this project between November 2021 - July 2022 and has been an absolute diamond. He has brought a huge range of expertise around learning design; loads of creative solutions for digital learning activities to present complex topics in a simple, visual & engaging way; a lot of technical know-how; and a really empathic appreciation of the complex challenges our clients face. The end result is thoroughly-researched prototype that has received glowing feedback from our residents and staff alike, and looks set to transform the offering we make to our clients. On a personal level I have thoroughly enjoyed working alongside Luke, he has brought a great drive and commitment to see the project through, and been an enthusiastic, supportive and very pleasant colleague. I would jump at the chance to work with him again, and would not hesitate to recommend him to others.
